ABSTRACT: Investigating the effects of early childhood education on gender identity development is crucial for understanding how early experiences shape children's perceptions of gender. This study aimed to evaluate how early childhood education programs influence gender identity development in young children. The objectives were to (1) assess children's understanding of gender roles, (2) evaluate the effectiveness of gender-neutral activities in the curriculum, and (3) examine changes in children's attitudes towards gender diversity. A survey design was chosen for this study to systematically collect detailed data from participants. A purposive sample of 120 children aged 4-6 years, enrolled in early childhood education programs, was selected to ensure the inclusion of relevant participants. The case study focused on an early childhood education center in Lagos State, where diverse gender identities are increasingly recognized. Findings revealed significant improvements in children's understanding of gender roles, the effectiveness of gender-neutral activities, and positive changes in attitudes towards gender diversity. The study recommended incorporating more gender-neutral activities into early childhood curricula and providing educators with training on gender inclusivity.
